Empowering Tanzania’s Digital and Sustainable Future
Following our recent mission to Tanzania from November 4th to 6th, 2024, we are thrilled to share an update on the progress of our blockchain project and extend a warm invitation to two upcoming online workshops. We also invite you to learn about our newly introduced Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) MBA Program—a pioneering initiative designed to equip future leaders with world-class business skills and hands-on community impact experience.
1. Project Progress Update
1.1 Blockchain Node Deployment
During our time in Dar es Salaam, we successfully installed the MVP pilot version of the thin node (Deliverable 2) at the NIT data center. In addition:
- We set up a masternode, integrating the system into the HashNet cross-border blockchain network.
- This deployment marks a significant step toward a robust, decentralized infrastructure that will enable secure, transparent transactions and data management for various applications—from education to supply chain projects.
1.2 Workshops Conducted
We hosted two introductory workshops for NIF representatives:
- Integration of the Server into the HashNet Cross-Border Blockchain Network (Monday, 4th November 2024)
- Testing the Network by Installing the HashNet Digital Wallet and Sending Transactions (Tuesday, 5th November 2024)
Additionally, we met with the NIT Rector and other representatives, including Mr. Bruno Kintyaga, to outline upcoming activities and confirm two more online workshops in the coming weeks.
2. Upcoming Online Workshops
We are delighted to invite you to two new workshops on January 23.2025 to accelerate blockchain learning and application in Tanzania’s academic and professional spheres.
2.1 Workshop 1: Blockchain Technology for Developers
Objective: Provide developers with foundational blockchain knowledge and hands-on skills in creating smart contracts and dApps on the HashNet platform.
- Agenda:
- Theoretical overview of blockchain technology.
- Practical coding exercises and real-time demonstrations.
- Group discussions to explore use cases relevant to Tanzania’s development goals.
- Format: Online (Virtual meeting details to follow)
- Who Should Attend:
- Software developers, IT professionals, and anyone interested in building blockchain applications.
2.2 Workshop 2: Showcasing the Blockchain Diploma dApp
Objective: Demonstrate how the HashNet blockchain can be used to notarize diplomas securely.
- Agenda:
- Live walkthrough of the Diploma dApp.
- Interactive sessions for participants to experiment with the platform.
- Group discussions to gather feedback and suggestions for future enhancements.

- Educational administrators, policy-makers, IT and academic professionals, and anyone interested in blockchain development.
Note: Both workshops are free of charge. Participants will receive digital certificates via the HashNet blockchain, exemplifying the practical utility of these systems.
3. Introducing the SDG MBA Program
We are proud to announce the launch of our Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) MBA Program, a trailblazing initiative designed to empower future leaders in Tanzania with top-tier business knowledge and community-driven project experience.
3.1 Program Overview
- Duration: 16 Months
- Delivery Mode: Hybrid (Online and In-Person Sessions)
- Partners: Delivered in collaboration with COTRUGLI’s hybrid platform and supported by a robust network of 2,600+ MBA alumni.
3.2 Key Objectives

- Offer world-class business education to develop leaders who can foster sustainable change.
- Drive Community Impact
- Through team-based projects, participants will:
- Develop Business Plans focused on blockchain-based economic resilience, social impact, and environmental sustainability.
- Create Community SDG Plans addressing local challenges, promoting tangible contributions to UNDP’s sustainable development goals.
- Through team-based projects, participants will:
- Establish a Scalable Mentorship Framework
- Each cohort mentors the next, creating a ripple effect of guidance and shared expertise throughout the program.
3.3 Program Design and Tracks
- MBA Curriculum: Core business disciplines—management, finance, marketing, strategy, leadership, digital transformation, blockchain, AI, and entrepreneurship.
- Mastermind Groups: Small teams collaborate closely, exchanging insights and driving growth.
- Personal Branding Training: Helps students enhance professional profiles and leadership presence.
- Train-the-Trainer Model: Equips participants with mentoring skills to support subsequent cohorts.
Track 1: Sustainable Blockchain Business Development
- Build crucial business acumen.
- Launch SDG-focused enterprises and projects.
- Emphasize responsible growth with measurable social impact.
Track 2: Community SDG Projects on Digital or Green Transformation
- Engage in community-centric initiatives aligned with the UN SDGs.
- Address areas like poverty alleviation, digitalization, gender equality, or green energy.
- Design long-term solutions tailored to local needs.
3.4 Blockchain-Verified Credentials
All diplomas from the SDG MBA Program will be securely stored on the blockchain, ensuring:
- Security & Authenticity: Tamper-proof records globally verifiable by employers and institutions.
- Transparency: Streamlined verification processes.
- Sustainability: Reduced reliance on physical documentation, in line with environmental goals.
